2-night Yoga & Spa Retreat in Glastonbury

About

Beyond the Somerset Levels lie the tranquil foothills of Glastonbury. It’s here you’ll find Upper Woodlands, the perfect venue to enjoy a weekend of utter bliss in luxurious surroundings. It’s just a 10 minute drive from Glastonbury Tor so you might want to tag on a trip to this historic site at either end of your stay.

The Cider Barn is one of several on-site properties and is where our group of 8-10 retreatants will eat, sleep and relax during the weekend. This beautiful building has had its historic character retained but has been given a contemporary and stylish renovation. The open plan kitchen, dining and living area is ideal for socialising and the connection to the outside space through the giant sliding doors ensures that you feel truly connected to your surroundings whilst encompassed in modern luxury. The Cider Barn has six en-suite bedrooms (3 x twin and 3 x king). All are individually styled with their own distinctive characters. The indoor communal spaces and the outdoor hot tub and patio area provide ample space to relax and indulge.

The Milking Palour is where our yoga sessions will take place. This large renovated barn marries rustic charm with modern elegance. Each detail has been designed to elevate your experience. It’s the perfect place to move mindfully and relax peacefully. All yoga equipment is provided.

This weekend of indulgence includes 3 x 2-hour sessions in Sedum Spa which is next door to The Cider Barn. Towels/robes/flip flops for use at the spa will be left in The Cider Barn for you to take to the spa when you go over. During each 2-hour slot, our group will enjoy exclusive use.

Spa facilities include:

  • 12x5m heated indoor pool

  • Lounging area surrounding the pool

  • Nordic outdoor hot tub

  • Gym facilities

  • Four treatment rooms (facials/massage must be booked in advance and are not included in the price)

  • Relaxation room

  • Separate male & female changing facilities

  • Spectacular views of Glastonbury Tor

  • Sauna

Located directly behind our retreat you’ll find gateways to the fields where a variety of crops are grown as part of the owners family farming enterprise. You’ll find grass margins around each of the fields which connect through to each other. You’re welcome to meander through these meadows where you can take in the panoramic views of the rolling hills and the expansive sky that stretches above.

Food

Food is an important part of the experience whilst on retreat and much care and thought goes into the menu planning, preparation and presentation of each dish. You can be sure that every meal you eat will be healthy, delicious and full of colour and flavour. Meals will be mostly vegetarian (fish is sometimes incorporated). Dietary restrictions can be accommodated.

Testimonials from previous retreats:

“The holiday with Ruth was fabulous- clear communication and organisation, wonderful location, delicious food and plenty of yoga . Ruth was very sensitive to everyone’s needs. Definitely recommend!”

“The bespoke approach meant that the classes were varied and brilliantly targeted, providing just what we all seemed to need. The food and the setting of the venue nourished and nurtured us - such a delight. I cannot recommend highly enough.”

“A wonderful retreat. Relaxing, invigorating and rejuvenating in a beautiful venue and Ruth provided just the right amount of yoga/meditation. The food was amazing too!”

“The retreat was one of the loveliest experiences and I can recommend it to anyone who needs time to relax and reset .
Ruth’s organised and flexible approach meant the week flowed and adapted to the needs and emotions of the group
The setting and food were fantastic and the whole experience has left me with a renewed sense of peace as well as a healthy body.
I wish I could go every month.”

“We were treated to several sessions of yoga a day all of which were optional, it was the most wonderful experience practicing yoga outside in the early morning surrounded by wildlife and the aroma of honeysuckle and jasmine. Ruth adapted the practices each day to suit our moods and the activities of the day, making it truly personal and unique. No one practice was the same with a meditation every evening to complete the day. In addition the food was exceptional, exceeding expectations day after day. It really was quite the most perfect week.”

“Having recently returned from the Tarifa retreat I can honestly say there is absolutely nothing I would have changed. Ruth not only delivered an extensive programme of varied yoga sessions each day but also made sure the additional activities- guided walks and trips into Tarifa town and to Bolonia Roman ruins - were well planned and executed.”

“ A wonderful week of nourishing yoga, delicious food in a beautiful setting. Ruth is a an attentive & caring teacher & the retreat house had a wonderful team that took great care of us. Came back feeling refreshed & energised. Can’t wait to go back! “

“A special week shared with a wonderful group of like minded souls. The days quickly evolved into a repeating pattern of “yoga, eat, relax!” We had the time to explore our yoga practice at a deeper level, which was definitely a highlight. The food was absolutely delicious, so varied and beautifully presented every single meal. The villa had everything you could ask for, and plenty of space to hang out with a book so you never felt on top of people.”
