Classes/Workshops
at Yoga Bodhi
Flow (9.00-10.00) & Yin (10.30-12.00) - upcoming dates: February 2nd, March 2nd, (first Sunday of the month ongoing).
Deep Winter Self Care : Saturday 11th January - 6.00.-8.00 pm
January can be a tough month! After the frenetic festivities of the Christmas and New Year period, we can be left feeling depleted and in need of radical self care. This workshop will provide a sanctuary for you to sink into soft and nurturing practices designed to help you rest, recover and rejuvenate in the coldest and darkest part of the year. We’ll incorporate gentle mindful movement, self massage, breathing techniques and a guided relaxation (Yoga Nidra) . This workshop is suitable for anyone in need of some deep winter TLC. Like ripples in a pond, the benefits of self care extend far beyond the individual. When we feel calm, relaxed and energised, we make better decisions and we’re more fun to be around. My aspiration is that you come away with some experiential knowledge and practical ideas around self care that you can easily implement at home day-to-day.
Asana Lab - Exploring the Biomechanics of Everyday Asana: see dates/times below
In this series of workshops (each of which can stand alone) we’ll put the postures we practice regularly under the microscope to see what’s happening from a movement science perspective. We’ll ‘workshop’ each posture in turn and in detail to answer the following questions:
What position are the joints in?
Which parts of the body are being loaded/stretched?
How can we progress/regress postures to make them more/less challenging?
How can we adapt postures depending on our intention in the moment?
These workshops are open to any yoga student who would like to deepen their understanding of the physical postures in yoga. They might also be of interest to yoga teachers or yoga teacher trainees who’re looking to refresh their knowledge. My hope is that all participants will come away with a clearer idea of the biomechanics involved in some of our everyday asana and potentially have some new ideas around how to adapt postures to meet different intentions.
Asana Lab - workshop 1: Saturday, February 8th: 10.30-12.30
We’ll dissect the sequence of postures which often show up in ‘vinyasa’ styles of yoga: downward facing dog, plank, chaturanga (and variations), cobra and upward facing dog.
Asana Lab - workshop 2: Saturday, March 29th: 10.30-12.30
We’ll take a closer look at backbends including: bridge, wheel, locust, bow and camel.
Asana Lab - workshop 3, June 7th: 10.30-12.30
We’ll explore hip openers and seated forward folds including: pigeon, double pigeon, seated forward fold, wide stride forward fold, hero pose and bound angle pose.

Workshop at Robyn’s Yoga Studio
Thai Yoga Massage Workshop (3 hours)
In this relaxed and practical workshop, you’ll take it in turns to give and receive Thai massage and assisted yoga stretches so that you can experience the techniques from both perspectives. You’ll go home having received some blissful Thai Yoga Massage and you’ll have learned a few techniques to try out on family and friends.
In traditional Thai Yoga Massage, the recipient remains clothed while the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. The practitioner uses thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to create a dance of movement on the body, which is part massage and part assisted yoga. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, physical and mental wellbeing.
Please dress as you would for a yoga class in soft, comfortable clothes and be ready to partner up with other workshop participants.

In my flow yoga classes, we move mindfully from posture to posture through sequences designed to develop healthy body mechanics. There will always be a good balance of both energising and calming postures and participants will always be encouraged to listen to the guidance from their own bodies, first and foremost.
In my yin classes, we stay close to the floor in mostly sitting or lying postures. Postures are held passively for three minutes or more as we focus on exploring the body’s sensations. After yin yoga, participants often describe feeling like they’ve been for a massage. This is because stretching the body in this way, breathing deeply and tuning into the felt sense of being in the body is a way to down-regulate the nervous system which often induces a calm, tranquil state of being.
Whether you are a complete beginner, or have more experience, you’re always very welcome in my classes.
