About me
“I look forward to all of Ruth’s classes. Her passion and joy for yoga comes through in every class and it’s a lovely balance of movement and mindfulness.”
“Very warm, calm, encouraging and gentle voiced instructor. Classes are beautifully constructed with very clear explanations, elements of challenge and choice, and always something of interest. I feel a better person inside and out after Ruth’s classes.”
“She just gives such great instruction, really clear and concise in getting into the postures and breathing. Very attentive and classes are so well structured and balanced.”
My teaching is inspired by the ancient wisdom of yoga but informed by the latest movement and psychological science. Making sure every person I teach feels completely at ease is very important to me. Whether it’s a weekly class, a monthly workshop or a yoga retreat, I strive to make each session interesting, immersive and fresh. Cultivating mindful awareness is always my guiding principle.
I’ve been teaching for more than ten years and have completed a plethora of trainings in different aspects of yoga and mindfulness during this time. Including:
500-hour Diploma in Teaching Yoga - The British Wheel of Yoga.
2 year Training in Teaching Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy - Oxford Mindfulness Foundation
100 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training - Yumu
Diploma in Thai Yoga Massage (Practitioner Level) - The School of Thai Yoga Massage
I’ve also had the privilege to practise with and learn from many other wonderful teachers including: Norman Blair, Liz Lark, Jason Crandell and Jenni Rawlings to name just a few.
In addition to continuing professional development, my teaching is also inspired and informed by my personal practice. I have a policy of only teaching what I practise myself because I want my guidance to come from a place of embodied experience.
Before moving to Bath where I now live with my husband and two daughters, I enjoyed two previous careers in London. The first in media sales and the second as a primary school teacher. Finding ways to effectively communicate ideas is the thread running through everything I do, professionally.
